Outcome of the grants programmeOutcome of the grants programme

Capacitybuilders’ £7m funding has paid for professional support to help organisations explore how they can increase their impact and become more resilient, including through working more closely with others. There were two phases of funding under the programme, bursaries of £1,000 and grants of up to £10,000.

The funding is targeted at third sector organisations with an annual turnover of between £150,000 and £750,000, which are wholly or primarily engaged in recession-related services under the themes of:

    •wellbeing and health
    •advice, information and guidance
•loss of income, training and skills

Phase one: know your needs

Between June 1 and 17 July, Capacitybuilders awarded over 800 £1,000 bursaries to enable third sector organisations to receive advice and support with the aim of identifying the options they have to improve their resilience, including collaboration or merger.

During May and June a series of workshops, run by Local Delivery Agents, took place across England to help organisations explore the impact of the recession on their business and beneficiaries, and to identify the resources which they can draw on for help.

Further support still available

To help all organisations understand their needs better, a free online self assessment tool is still available as well as other resources which you can find out about by visiting the Further Support Pages

Phase two: grow together

From the Autumn, grants of up to £10,000 were available to organisations who received a phase one bursary and as a result of this funding, wanted to make further progress towards collaboration or merger.

Grants of up to £10,000 are helping organisations buy the professional and other support they need to help make collaboration or merger happen.
